Foundation Service 2020
Each year our Foundation Service is a wonderful occasion for current and past students, staff and parents to come together to celebrate our school. At Friday morning’s Foundation Service we welcomed back Janine Kirk (YG 1970) and Alex Zaccaria (YG 2006). During the Service Janine and Alex spoke to Brad Fry about their professional achievements and time at Tintern.
We inducted our Year 7 students in to the Class of 2025, with a badging ceremony as part of the Service.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the School community to be inspired by these accomplished alumni.
A special thank you to Lyn Bartold (Past Staff) and Joyce Rowlands (Cook 1949) who both presented at the Service.
Thank you to everyone in our Community who attended the Foundation Service and joined us for Morning Tea.
Green Team Starts the Term with Two Successful Events
On Saturday 29 February the Green Team ran mini-games and a silent auction at the TPG Trivia Night. 150 people attended in support of the Tintern Parent Group, Green Team and the Social Justice Group, 20 of whom were proud Green Team students who either attended to support the cause or run some of the games. The silent auction took up most of Area C and the mini games, such as coin toss for chocolate and the Scavenger Hunt engaged everyone present and collected many gold coins. In total the Green Team raised $3300 throughout the night; all of which will go towards the SolarBuddy Project. The Green Team is aiming to raise $16,250 in order to purchase and assemble 500 solar lights for children in developing countries suffering from energy poverty. The night was enjoyable and energetic and everyone in attendance will rave about it for weeks to come. Thank you to Mr. Kenny and Ms. Constable for being incredible and hilarious hosts!
The following morning on Sunday 1 March, 111 members of the Tintern Community took part in Clean Up Australia Day. This number included students from years 5-12, Junior school parents and teachers. Student groups were divided into year levels and assigned an area around the school. Clean up areas included Cheong, Wombolano and Gracedale parks, the East Ringwood shopping strip, the train station and along the railway lines. The year 10s were allocated Ringwood Lake Park and couldn’t clean up the whole area in the time alloted. A few students went foraging through the bushes and emerged with heavy, bulky items such as trolleys and TVs. Other groups found TV boxes, more trolleys, backpacks, coat racks and even more crazy items. Thanks to the effort of this committed group of people, the area around Tintern Grammar is now a much cleaner environment. A grateful local resident even dropped a thank you card into main reception and wrote the following: “Thank you for taking the time to care for our local area, it is sparkling clean from your caring attentions.” The members of the Tintern Grammar Community who were generous enough to give up their Sunday morning have made a difference to Ringwood East and Croydon South, and the Green Team would like to thank everyone who volunteered.

TPG Trivia Night 2020
Thank you to everyone who attended the 2020 Trivia Night. With a fantastic turn-out of over 150 people, some incredible costumes and a joyous atmosphere the Trivia Night was a wonderful success.
Thank you to Adam Kenny and Oriana Constable for their incredible work as Quizmasters! Also to Anne Bortolussi and the wonderful students of the Green Team and Social Justice Group for the amazing Silent Auction and games. A special thank you also to the hard working TPG Committee for organizing an amazing night.
The $5 donation amount of the ticket costs will be donated evenly between:
- The Smith Family, a national, independent children’s charity helping disadvantaged Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves.
- The Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund of Zoos Victoria, which is pooling donations to ensure long-term plans and immediate action can be taken to ensure our wildlife, including endangered species, can recover from these heartbreaking and ongoing fires.
We look forward to another amazing Trivia Night in 2021!

Friends of Equestrian News – Horse Trials
The Friends of Equestrian committee at Tintern Grammar would like to assure our riders, participants, parents, officials, volunteers, supporters and sponsors that your health and safety is our priority.
As a result, it is with much disappointment we must announce Friends of Equestrian has no choice but to cancel the 2020 Tintern Grammar Interschool Victorian Eventing Championships scheduled to take place at Wandin Park on the 25 and 26 April.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire equestrian community for their support over the last few days. Whilst we would love to be able to run the event, as a committee feel that our social responsibility to the wider community is to do all that we can to ‘flatten the curve’ of COVID-19. This is far more important at the present time. We would like to thank you all very much for entering our event and ask our competitors to be patient with us as we work our way through the refunds which will take a few days to sort out given the large number of events that have all cancelled at the same time.
Take care of yourself and your loved ones.
Kind regards
Karen Trevorrow
