Salvation Army Christmas Appeal
We were delighted to present the Salvation Army with over a thousand items of food and groceries in support of their annual Christmas Food Drive. Promoted by our School Leaders and supported by all members of the Tintern Community, we were humbled to be able to hopefully make a difference to those facing adversity at this time of the year.
Principal’s Thank You Night
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the Principal’s Thank You evening on the 24 November 2022. We were joined on the evening by some of our incredible Alumni, who form TOGA and TGA, and attend the school to share their knowledge and experiences with our current students.
It was wonderful to be able to thank so many of the incredible people who have volunteered their time and expertise throughout the year!
A special thank you to Stephanie Deveson (YG 2008), who made the delicious cookies on the night through her Cafe Willow and Jackson in Healesville, and to Alison Quaggin (YG 1999) for preparing the thank you hampers, through her providore in Healesville, Kitchen and Butcher.
We would love your feedback about this event and any thoughts you may have for future Thank You Evenings. The survey is relevant if you did, or did not, attend. Please complete our survey here (it should only take a couple of minutes).
We look forward to another exciting year in 2023.
Community Fun Day
Despite the uncertainty of the (typical Melbourne) weather, the Community Fun Day on Saturday 22 October, was a wonderful success. Focused on bringing our Community back together after a tumultuous two and half years, we were grateful for the support of everyone who braved the threat of rain, and came along to enjoy the incredible musical performances, delicious food and fun activities. There was a wonderful community vibe in the air, and it was evident everyone was enjoying themselves.
This event could not have gone ahead without the incredibly hard work of our dedicated Volunteers. The Tintern Parent Group not only organised, they also funded, this day to provide an opportunity for connection at Tintern. Thank you to the incredible TPG Sub-Committee volunteers who worked tirelessly to envision and organise this amazing day.
A thank you to the many Tintern staff and students who also supported the day. A special thank you also to Music, Library, Facilities, Friends of Music, Community Relations and the Marketing Teams who were instrumental in the operation of this event.

TPG Trivia Night 2022
Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets for the TPG Trivia Night last Saturday. It was an incredible evening, led by Adam Kenny, Quiz Master extraordinaire, and managed by an amazing team of Volunteers from the Tintern Parent Group. We were joined by many Alumni on the evening, including a TGA table, which despite being small they held their own on the night.
It was a festive atmosphere, with our first place Costume Winners taking the Christmas in July theme seriously. We were excited to see so many amazing costumes, including our second place winners Top Gun and the Sailors, amongst many others. Congratulations to our overall Trivia winners, with our first place winners achieving the top spot on the final round.
All proceeds from the raffle and games were donated to the Smith Family, which came to $650.
A special thank you on behalf of the school to the hardworking members of the TPG who made this night possible.
Thank you also to Adam Kenny, who once again led an incredible 5 rounds of Trivia and many wonderful special activities and games, including Tintern’s Got Talent (and there was some amazing talent!).
A final thank you to the Green Team and Social Justice Group, who organised a fantastic Silent Auction, with the money raised going towards the Future Rising program.
We look forward to another wonderful Trivia Night in 2023!

First Nations Peoples Learning – Murrundindi Visit to Tintern
We were fortunate to have Wurundjeri head man, Murrundindi spend two days at our School in early November. He spent time with our students from all Year levels from drawing and art with our Early Learning children, cultural leadership with our Year 5 girls, bush food sessions, to dance and digeridoo. Sharing his stories with our students and staff we were transported to his first-hand experiences of growing up as an aboriginal person and his pathway to and role as leader of the Wurundjeri people. His knowledge and inclusive and caring nature for the people, flora and fauna and this land was inspiring.
Murrundindi’s visit goes hand in hand with our focus on care of each other and our land as a community that reflects a commitment to respect culture. His insights and stories kindled our learners’ imaginations and transformed the way they see their world and each other. We give thanks for his visit and look forward to his return at the start of our year in 2023.
Friends of Music Jazz Night – A wonderful Winter Wonderland!
After a 2 year hiatus, the Friends of Music and Tintern Music team organized an incredible 2022 Jazz Night. The ‘Winter Wonderland’ looked amazing, the music performances were spectacular, and if the packed-out dance floor for the last set of Ross Irwin’s septet is anything to go by, the students had a great night.
A big thank you to everyone who helped with the planning and preparations for Jazz Night 2022, and for helping on the night. We are grateful for the hard work of the amazing volunteers on our friends of Music. Congratulations to the music department and students on staging a magnificent array of performances.
