A Day in the Life

Thank you to all the members of our Community who were able to contribute images to ‘A day In The Life of Tintern’ on Monday 17 August, a wonderful initiative created by our School Leaders. Please enjoy this video, it features many familiar faces and beautiful lyrics written by our School Captain, Ashleigh Dowling.

Tintern Virtual Choir – A student and Alumni Collaboration

We were delighted to end Term 3 with a virtual choir performance of an uplifting song, “The Defining Moment” by Pinkzebra.

When our school first went into lockdown, members of our Middle School and Senior College Choirs kept reliably attending early morning rehearsals from their home bases during Term 2. It soon became apparent that ‘live’ rehearsals were not going to be very productive, so we launched our virtual choir project in mid-May. After weeks of gathering individual videos, seeking some additional vocal contributions from Tintern choral alumni and many hours of post-production work by our Head of Senior College to mix and balance the video, we are so very proud of this final product.
The lyrics of The Defining Moment encapsulate so many of the positive elements which have resulted from our community facing and working together to grow stronger through the challenges of the past few months. Seeing the joy on the faces of our students as they sing, and hearing their wonderful voices unifying (and harmonising!) throughout this song remind us of the importance of taking each day in our stride and looking forward with confidence and a sense of achievement.

A special thank you to our incredible Alumni Brayden Stokes (YG 2019), Genevieve Barclay (YG 2016), Molly Fleming (YG 2019), Bianca Gerin (YG 2019), Sienna Gerin (YG 2017), Tara McAsey (YG 2018) and Tiana McAsey (YG 2017).

The music teachers thank these wonderful students from the bottom of their hearts for being willing to put themselves ‘on the line’ by recording in isolation and submitting their videos. We are so looking forward to being able to come together again at school, sing at the tops of voices in the same room and share our joyful singing with the Tintern community ‘live’ once more!

Tintern Grammar – Virtual Art Exhibitions

The visual arts are an integral part of everyday life, permeating all levels of human creativity, expression, communication and understanding.

IB Visual Art Exhibitions 2020

Welcome to the Tintern Grammar 2020 IB Visual Art Virtual Exhibition. This exhibition celebrates the folio works created by this year’s Year 12 IB Diploma students –Alice, Jeremy, Hannah, Angel and Margaret.

The IB Diploma Programme Visual Arts course encourages students to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries. It is a thought-provoking course in which students develop analytical skills in problem-solving and divergent thinking, while working towards technical proficiency and confidence as art-makers. In addition to exploring and comparing visual arts from different perspectives and in different contexts, students are expected to engage in, experiment with and critically reflect upon a wide range of contemporary practices and media. The course is designed for students who want to go on to study visual arts in higher education as well as for those who are seeking lifelong enrichment through visual arts.

This year’s exhibition is available for you to enjoy at your own pace, in your own time, virtually. You are able to follow the guided tour, and explore each of the dedicated ‘rooms’ that feature each candidates work, or you can use the arrow key or click & drag function of the cursor and explore the pieces in any order you choose. You can zoom in closer to the works and view them individually, and read the artist statements regarding the works by simply clicking on the image. Each gallery room has the curatorial rationale by each artist that expresses their individual journey.
