Were you a Tintern Scholarship Recipient? Would you like to share your story?
With the recent establishment of the Tintern Grammar Scholarship fund, we are seeking past Scholarship Recipients who would like to share they story of Tintern. Is this you?
This fund provides opportunities for new, talented students, who are enthusiastic to learn and reach their full potential, but who may have been unable to attend Tintern Grammar without Scholarship support. We would like to profile a past recipient, to see how this has shaped their path.

Our Generous Community, New Scholarship Fund, Philanthropy at Tintern
Since its foundation, Tintern Grammar has been providing financial assistance to eligible families, whose situation would otherwise exclude them from giving their child a Private School education.
In 2020 this became more essential than ever. The restrictions around the COVID-19 Pandemic have led to some of our Tintern families experiencing sudden and unexpected financial difficulties.
The School Board approved some fee relief for those in need with an option to redirect the fee rebates to the Tintern Grammar Bursary Fund. It is extremely pleasing and humbling to report more than 15% of our families took up this option, which directly supports our current families who need it most.
Other generous donations from our alumni, past parents, current and past staff, Community Groups, and other School supporters, were received through our ‘Every Gift Count’ campaign, which further supported our Bursary, Library and Building Funds, and our newly created Tintern Grammar Scholarship Fund.
The Tintern Grammar Scholarship fund, established last year, aims to offer scholarships to new students, with the long-term goal of supporting scholarship recipients through a self-sustaining fund. The fund will provide opportunities for new talented students, who are enthusiastic to learn and reach their full potential, but who may have been unable to attend Tintern Grammar without Scholarship support. Scholarships are granted at the discretion of the Principal and may be awarded as a result of academic merit or for reasons of equity.
In our recent Every Gift Counts Annual Giving campaign we received some very generous donations to the Scholarship Fund in honour of Henry Speagle, long-time friend and supporter of our School, who sadly passed away in early 2020. We are now looking to further support this new Fund with one off, or ongoing, donations. In 2021 we will be continuing our focus on our Scholarship fund, where gifts to our Annual Giving campaign will be directed to this new fund. Donations can still be made through our ‘Every Gift Counts’ page on our website, or by contacting the Community Relations office to discuss your options.
The Tintern Grammar Scholarship, Building and Library Funds are endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) and donations of $2.00 or more are tax deductible. For more information on this, please visit the Australian Taxation Office website www.ato.gov.au.
We are also grateful to those who have recently named Tintern in their will. These Bequests can be selected to support the Scholarship Fund, or any of our Funds that you feel will benefit our families in the future, or support your own areas of interest. Please contact Di Lacey in the Community Relations office to discuss further.
The strength of Tintern Grammar has always been its sense of community; whether as a current or past student, family, staff or friend of the school. Whilst the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic have been difficult for us all, they have showcased the incredible compassion and care within our School Community. Thank you all, for the support you have given Tintern; whether Financial support to our families in need, or your patience and resilience in the face of the sweeping changes in our school and global community. We are grateful.
