Beverley Wood (YG 2008) married Ross Witherby on the 28 October 2018. Beverley said, “Ross and I have been around each other as friends since I was 12 years old, and finally married on 28 October 2018 after coming together in recent years. We celebrated with 90 of our closest family and friends at the Stones of the Yarra Valley, a picturesque venue only ten minutes down the road from where we live.
The celebrations lasted from our 11am ceremony well into the night, with an endless indulgence of incredible food and classic 80’s tunes – we walked out of the chapel to “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” by the Eurythmics. To acknowledge the women in our lives, both Ross and I chose our mothers to witness our marriage certificate, and we gifted the bridal bouquet to the longest married couple in attendance in lieu of a bouquet toss.”

Valmai “Val” Lade (Dawson YG 1953), Australia’s Queen of Découpage, passed away 1 December 2018. Loved and adored wife of John, married for over 61 years.
Découpage is the art of decorating an object by gluing coloured paper cut-outs with special paint effects and adding many layers of varnish, which are then sanded to a polished finish. In Australia, we have been fortunate to have great teachers of this specialised art form such as our very own Val Lade (Dawson, YG 1953), who may have been responsible for introducing this art form to Australia.
