A message from your TGA President

In late November 2019, Tintern Grammar Alumni (TGA) was formed under the banner of Tintern Communities.  This was a special moment in time for the proud alumni and community traditions that have been carried onward by the good work of TOGA and SOBA over so many years. Working side by side with these groups, the TGA aims to continue enhancing the connection between the past, present and future of Tintern Grammar in a variety of new ways, under one Association.

It’s an exciting time for our school community, and particularly, the diverse group of proud alumni who have been elected to form the foundation committee of the association.

In March this year, we gathered (online!) for our strategic planning day with the aim of arriving at a clear sense of purpose for the TGA.

  • What mission and vision would best serve the school community?
  • What should our strategic objectives be to ensure that we’re representative of our school community in all that we do?
  • What are the offerings and engagement we provide to students, school leavers and alumni to ensure they have exceptional experience in their post-Tintern life?

As the President of the Association, I’m pleased to let our alumni know that while the current crisis our wider community finds itself in will hamper some of our short-term goals and events, the development of the ideas and concepts from the day were exceptional. We’ll be looking to formally launch the TGA to you all in the coming months.

We’re aiming to connect alumni in a way that supports individual interest and endeavour, while fostering a sense of collective voice that will continue to benefit the school and the wider community.

The ideas have formed our draft strategy, breathing new life into how our alumni can connect to Tintern Grammar, with a strong focus on facilitating new pathways and connections. This is through:

  • Diverse and Inclusive Events
  • Community Activation
  • Celebrating and Amplifying our Alumni

To achieve this, we’ll need you! Your participation, input and feedback are integral and in the next addition of our Alumni Newsletter, we’ll share with you our mission, vision and strategic plan for the year ahead. Stay tuned for updates through social media and email, too. You can contact us via email alumni@tintern.vic.edu.au with all your thoughts, questions and ideas.

Yours in community
